SIP Trunk Mexico — +52 Termination & DID Numbers
Mexico moved to a closed 10-digit numbering plan in August 2019, removing the old 01, 044 and 045 prefixes, so every number is now dialled the same way from anywhere. That makes routing simple, but mobile termination still costs noticeably more than fixed lines.
Overview
Routing calls to Mexico
Most Mexico traffic we see ends in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, Puebla, Tijuana and Querétaro. Each +52 prefix is mapped to at least two carriers, and we watch ASR, ACD and PDD per prefix so a degrading route is replaced before your agents notice.
Numbering in Mexico is managed by IFT. We terminate to geographic, mobile and toll-free ranges and price each one separately on the rate sheet. There is no trunk prefix to strip: send 52 followed by the national number as written.
Documentation for Mexico DIDs depends on the range. Some go live with standard account details, and others need a local address. Outbound calling has no extra requirements.

FAQ
Mexico SIP trunk questions
Do I still need 044 or 045 to reach Mexican mobiles?
No. Since 2019 all Mexican numbers are 10 digits with no access prefix. Send 52 plus the 10 digits.
Are fixed and mobile priced differently?
Yes. Mobile destinations carry a higher termination rate. The rate sheet lists them as separate prefixes.
Can I get Mexico City DIDs?
Yes. Local numbers in the 55 area are available. Some ranges ask for a local address or company details.
Which regulator oversees numbering?
The IFT (Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones) manages the numbering plan and telecom rules.
